The Orleans is a vibrant hotel and casino nestled in the heart of Paradise, Nevada, just a stone's throw away from the famous Las Vegas Strip. This lively destination is owned and operated by the esteemed Boyd Gaming. Offering an expansive multipurpose Orleans Arena, this venue can effortlessly be transformed into an ice rink and accommodates up to 9,000 eager attendees.[3] Notably, the Orleans Ice Rink served as the home base for the Las Vegas Wranglers, a minor league ice hockey team that had an active run in the ECHL from 2003 until 2014.
While The Orleans draws in a significant number of tourists—particularly during the renowned Mr. Olympia contest—it is predominantly regarded as a locals casino. Strategically located about 0.8 miles (1.3 km) west of the bustling Las Vegas Strip, it conveniently offers a complimentary shuttle service from 9:00 am to 12:30 am[4], running approximately every 30 minutes to its sister properties like Gold Coast Hotel and Casino and The Linq.
The development of The Orleans came at a cost of $173 million, and it opened its doors on 88 acres of prime land on December 18, 1996, introducing 840 hotel rooms.[5][6][7] Initially, the performance of The Orleans fell below expectations, prompting a significant expansion in 1999 that brought new elements to the casino and additional amenities. The success of these initial changes laid the foundation for further expansions that followed in subsequent years.
In 2003, the Orleans Arena was introduced, and a second hotel tower was subsequently added in 2004. The site holds the noteworthy distinction of having hosted the final concert performance of legendary stand-up comedian George Carlin on June 15, 2008.[8][9]
